The Cleansing is a free, browser-based tool for muddy mixes. It first tells you how much mud is sitting in your low end, then washes it out of a full track or a lone vocal. Everything runs on your own machine; nothing is uploaded.

What it does

The Cleansing does two things. First it diagnoses the low-mid mud — the boxy, boomy build-up around 200-500 Hz that makes mixes sound congested — and tells you how muddy your track is. Then it cleans it: drop in a full mix or a solo vocal, pick one of two strengths, and compare before and after. Keep the version your ears prefer and download the cleaned WAV.

How to use it

  1. Drop a mix into the mud check to see how much low-end mud you have.
  2. To clean a full track, offer it and choose Cleanse or Extreme Cleanse.
  3. To clean a vocal, use the vocal slot instead.
  4. A/B before and after, then download the cleaned WAV.
